Redcaps Characters & Troops

Nuada
Nuada illustration

Nuada

He is the former Master Artisan and military leader of Gae Assail. After a thousand-year "nap" in his Dream Chamber, he woke up with a ravenous appetite for glory. But don't think he has it easy: even though he boasts a majestic presence and wields the Bloodsucker sword, dealing with his new troop drives him out of his mind. Attempting to apply military discipline to a tide of uncontrolled impish red caps who only want to raise havoc is, quite simply, a nightmare driving him from frustration to sheer paranoia.

Plaf, The Enraptured
Plaf, The Enraptured illustration

Plaf, The Enraptured

To tell the truth, Plaf got stuck with the hardest job of all: being the only one with any sense in the middle of a complete madhouse. She is the only red cap capable of articulating actual words rather than unintelligible shrieks, which makes her, by her own merits, the smartest of the entire horde. In front of General Nuada she melts into servitude, sweet eyes, and absolute devotion. But don't be fooled by that facade: the moment the general turns his back, Plaf displays a fiery temper, shouting orders at the top of her lungs and handing out slaps and cuffs to keep any distracted red cap from ruining the fun.

Rac, the Greedy (and his frog Raña / Kuff)

Rac, the Greedy (and his frog Raña / Kuff)

A born hoarder driven by pure avarice. If he spots a shiny object in his path, it goes straight into his sack, regardless of the danger. He charges recklessly atop Raña (Kuff), a giant frog with a rather depressing expression, who gets suicidally excited whenever he sees someone fall around him.

Plum, The Slugger
Plum, The Slugger illustration

Plum, The Slugger

Imagine the body of a goofy giant paired with the mind of a small child. His absolute favorite pastime is using a megabeast bone as a club to launch his own comrades flying directly into enemy lines. To him, it's all a terribly fun game — even if the poor imp soaring through the air while shrieking doesn't quite see it the same way.

The Choppers

The Choppers

Rather antisocial creatures, covered head to toe in razor-sharp ceramic shards. All they ask is to be left alone. Amusingly, they carry natural metal handles strapped to their backs designed specifically so Plum can grab them mid-flight and use them as prickly ammunition.

The Flamecobs

The Flamecobs

Pure bottled rage in miniature form. Their internal fury is so destructive that it manifests as white fire, driving them to march around armed with fairly unstable homemade flamethrowers. What's more, if an enemy manages to bring one down, their final deflagration triggers a scorching explosion that takes down anyone standing nearby.

The Bugbowls

The Bugbowls

Bugbowls are completely incapable of waiting. When they want something, they want it now. Right now. Impatience is the emotion that dominates them, and their numbers have risen sharply since the awakening of Nuada. Dwarves from Mounthaven who study the behavior of red caps speculate that this may be because the former general of Gae Assail is an extremely impatient individual with little tolerance for frustration. Fortunately for everyone, no dwarf will be in a position to present this theory to Nuada, as the elf would not take kindly to statements that directly clash with the image of cold-bloodedness and stoicism that he likes to project.

Quest for Elfleen

JOIN LINDWURM'S MOST MISCHIEVOUS QUEST

Nuada sets course for the misty marshes of The Gándaras. His mission? To pass through the mystical gates of the Wandering City and reclaim, once and for all, his place as Emperor of Gae Assail.

The Story: An Elven Imperial Ship and a Map of Mirages

There is no stopping Nuada once he sets his mind on something. After excitedly leafing through the pages of Zaqariyya Qazvini's ancient tome, Wonders of Creation, he has convinced himself that the mysterious Wandering City is none other than Elfleen — the jewel of his long-lost empire.

Winks, Comedy, and Breaking the Fourth Wall

If there is one thing that makes Quest for Elfleen special, it is that it completely abandons the ultra-solemn tone of traditional fantasy to offer a fresh, irreverent, and hilarious experience: the script itself unapologetically breaks the fourth wall, featuring Monty Python-esque homages and Terry Pratchett-style comedy...

3 Exclusive Narrative Scenarios

The campaign unfolds over three linked chapters:

  • •A Magpie From Another Time
  • •Mine is Mine, and Yours Is Mine Too
  • •Last One's A Rotten Egg!
