The Witch Scenario I: Starborn

The hunt has begun.

Across Lindwurm, Hunters and Seekers have taken up the trail of the mysterious Witch. Some seek to destroy her. Others hope to find her first and uncover the secrets she guards. Whatever their purpose, every trail eventually leads north, toward the Barrier Islands and the strange light glowing among the trees.

Scenario I of The Witch, Starborn, is now available.

Into the Ivory Forest

On a moonless night, the Ivory Forest glows. Its spectral trees pulse with a faint light, almost as though the forest itself were breathing. Through them walks Manannán, the colossal stag spirit who guards the Barrier Islands and their sacred forest. As he moves, fragments break from his form and scatter across the landscape, leaving traces of shimmering stardust behind. Those fragments are your objective.

But what you intend to do with them depends entirely upon why you came here. Hunters must gather the fallen pieces of Manannán and cast them into the pit. Seekers, meanwhile, must collect the fragments and carry them to the burnt tree. Each fragment successfully delivered advances your company toward its goal and earns points toward victory.

Beware the Forest

Manannán is not the only danger here. Much of the battlefield is Magical terrain, and units that linger too close to it risk becoming Bewitched. That becomes particularly dangerous as Manannán continues his endless march. During the scenario, his passage can draw Bewitched warriors toward the Spectral Groves, while the stardust surrounding his fallen fragments can cause the objectives themselves to shift across the battlefield. A fragment that seemed safely within your grasp may suddenly begin moving toward your opponent's goal.

There is another reason to brave the forest, however. Units can Rummage through terrain in search of strange objects connected to the Witch. Bone amulets, shoes, teapots and even an extremely suspicious turnip may be hidden among the trees. Finding these objects can contribute to your campaign progress, so deciding whether to pursue Manannán's fragments or search for the Witch's possessions becomes another choice your company must make.

Follow the Track

Starborn lasts three rounds, and your performance contributes Track Points to your campaign. Hunters earn progress through MP, while Seekers accumulate AP, with additional Track Points available for discovering at least one of the Witch's objects and finishing the battle with more VP than your opponent. Each game you record and report enters you into a raffle to win a Warcrow starter bundle of your choice!
