In a world of change, magic has reappeared. A mysterious fog spreads through the land, echoes of the past resonate in Lindwurm. The future is uncertain, though the present urges. This is the moment for decisions to be made. Would you pay the price?
Warcrow is a fantasy universe where different nations must decide which part they will play in it. Hold on to what they know, fight for what they believe in, unravel the mysteries surrounding them, protect their heritage, or stride towards their destiny.
Lindwurm is the land where these nations dwell. A new cycle of magic has started, and a mysterious fog spreads through the land. Echoes from the past resonate in Lindwurm.
Magic at Warcrow
Magic in Lindwurm is subject to different cycles that affect its power.
These cycles are influenced by the proximity of a shard in the sky that orbits in the system where Lindwurm exists.
A magic cycle could last for millennia.
As the shard comes closer to the sun and planets, a new cycle of magic initiates. At the periastron, when the shard is the closest, magic in Lindwurm is at its apex. And as it goes away, magic slowly fades. It does not entirely disappear, for it is always present in this world.
Yet, its influence and power are noticeably weakened. Even so that some civilizations have forgotten about it.
The city
Hawthorn Point is a coastal city in the island continent of Assail that has been covered by the mysterious fog for quite a long time.
But at some point, the fog withdrew from the south-eastern side of the island, liberating some unexplored territory.
After surviving a violent storm, a group of sailors arrived on these shores and believed they were doomed. This was not an inhabitable territory, or so they thought. Nevertheless, the liberated shores happened to be in perfect condition for a settlement. Thus, the city of Hawthorn Point was founded.
As soon as the coast was cleared from the fog, every nation in Lindwurm mobilized its assets and set camp in these lands.
Everyone was attracted to Hawthorn Point for a different reason, everybody had their motives to reinforce their presence there. And because some of these interests were directly opposed to others, the tension kept growing until the armed conflict started.
After some years and some events, Hawthorn Point became then a free port and a neutral settlement, one very well situated.
Peace was worth maintaining as the nations continued to raid the territories freed by the fog. And to the siren’s call of risk, travellers from all the corners of Lindwurm came and to this day keep coming to the city. Mercenaries, adventurers, outlaws… everybody has a place in Hawthorn Point.
The fog in Warcrow
The fog is a key element for the WarCrow universe; it has its own entity, and thus it will be present in both Warcrow Adventures and Warcrow the wargame.
The fog leaves a trace anywhere it roams, passes, or creeps. There is a stain that remains, evidence of the presence of the fog.
Some places near the limits of the fog have been ravaged by it, and the stories about these episodes are terrifying. Some people vanished, some others woke up in the middle of the night, walked directly into the fog, and disappeared inside of its embrace.
Other people were left in a catatonic state, mere husks of what they used to be. Those lucky enough to have survived after being under its influence, in a more or less sane state, speak of a speck light, a reflection…
But not just people are affected by the fog, also buildings and plants experiment changes under its proximity and its touch. The fog is unpredictable, one can never guess where its tides will reach. It seems like, somehow, it’s… alive
What the nations of Lindwurm have learned is that the Fog is a menace, a threat; one that everybody must face. However, there might be different approaches and strategies to do so.
The nations
Following the tradition established in classic fantasy, the inhabitants of this world are of various races and they gather in nations. Each of these nations has its own goals and purpose.
These are the nations that inhabit Lindwurm:
- Feudom
- Mounthaven
