Oona lifted her head suddenly. There was no one around, and yet, she'd clearly heard those words.
"Who are you?" she asked the air itself. "Show yourself."
"Who am I...? I don't know. I just thought myself into being."
The whisper of the wind between the trees couldn't have produced those words. No, Oona was having a conversation with someone. Maybe it was a spirit. After all, the forest had become so affected by the war that many of its ancient beings were waking up from their slumber.
"Should I fear you?" the elf asked as she shifted her weight on the root that passed for her seat. She hadn't grown accustomed to the new leg that had sprouted from her amputated limb yet.
"I am not sure. Although... I do not seem to be very dangerous. Maybe yes. Maybe no. After all, I just thought myself into being."
Bio

Oona had been recruited from the Forest of Ashes to assist the other Sÿenann in their skirmishes against the Embersig Hegemony in the Unseen Forest. During an especially vicious fight, she lost her arm and leg. Hegemonic soldiers brought down a Sÿena that fell onto the battlefield, and Oona, feeling powerless, picked up its fruits and stored them as a treasure. But when she touched her stump, a Sÿena hazelnut took root in her flesh, and Oona once again had an arm made of Sÿena wood. It was temporary, but that's how she realized that each hazelnut had a different effect on her body.
And then Root appeared.
At first, it was just another voice that whispered into her mind as the Sÿena fruits merged with her body. Each had features of their own, but Root was different. With her, Oona could once again cross the portals between elven forests, as if she weren't Ashen . Also, Root whispered the name of a place in her ears: Hawthorn Point. Oona reached No Return Forest and kept walking until she arrived at a town. There, Root's intensity increased, although Oona couldn't understand what she was saying. Thus, she decided to stay and find out why that whisper had led her there.

Character sheet and mechanics
Oona is one of our most special characters and she's perfect for those who want to take their gaming experience to a whole new level in Warcrow Adventures. Unlike other members of the Dysfunctional Family, Oona doesn't shy away from the Stain; instead, she uses it to its fullest potential. Today, we'll take a deep dive into her Character Sheet and discover everything she's got to offer.
Have you noticed that Oona's energy value is 0? That's because she's got access to 3 dark energy cubes due to her condition of being an Ashen elf. Playing with Oona means to manage the Stain, accumulate it, and then spend it to activate her abilities.

Oona is used to skirmishes and ambushes, but since she's a druid she also has an extensive knowledge of the forest and its secrets. Therefore, Intelligence is her master attribute and she has a strong Perception roll. However, for those unfamiliar with her culture, Oona can be… somewhat intimidating. Besides, she's not the most sociable person in the world, so her Charisma value isn't very high. On the other hand, she retains some of her elven agility in her Agility attribute, but let's not forget that one of her legs is now a tree, so she's not the fastest either.
Her Activation Panel contains several symbols that we hadn't seen so far, with the Larva symbol linked to her gameplay mechanics. Oona can distribute the inhabitants of her colony between Enemies but also between other Characters. With them, she'll drain the life from her opponents and assist her companions' rolls, infusing some of the power she's obtained from her Sÿena limbs.
To do this, Oona must spend the Stain that she accumulates by placing energy cubes on her Activation Panel. But that's not all: our elf can also apply the effects of her larvae to herself. It's only logical, she's literally carrying them on her back.
Her connection to the forest allows her to make small "jumps" on the board in order to improve her positioning. But to do so, she must spend the Stain she accumulates when she uses her dark energy cubes. Her arm and leg are living trees, so she'll use their powerful roots to drag her opponents all over the scenery.
Equipment

The bark that covers Oona's body provides protection against enemy attacks. However, it's origins are magical in nature, so once again she must manage the Stain she accumulates in order to activate its power. Additionally, those "voices" that Oona hears can activate incredible powers through her druid staff. This way, she can stun or poison her opponents in exchange for the Stain that she gains through her activations. Don't forget that through her larvae, Oona's equipment (her armor, weapons, and special items) also acquires interesting abilities and effects that'll prove to be very useful in the game, both for weakening your enemies and helping other Characters.
If you're going to play with Oona, don't fear the Stain. After all, it's thanks to it that our druid receives nourishment and unleashes her full power. Through her, you'll discover a new way to play, starkly different from any other Character in Warcrow Adventures.
