Character sheet explained

A key feature of any dungeon crawler is its character's mechanics. In Warcrow Adventures, each of our heroes has a unique profile with which they'll face the challenges awaiting them in Hawthorn Point.

To get you acquainted with the way a character tab works, we'll pick the example of Zsoka Isimun - the fierce dwarven maiden whose strength and courage pushed her to join the others, braving the Fog in search of her lost companions.

One of Zsoka's features is her endurance since her profile is that of a defender or tank. Her health value is quite high. One way to use her in-game is to draw enemy attacks by controlling—so to speak—the damage she receives, forcing enemies to focus on her instead of the other characters.

A Warcrow Adventures Character Tab has two parts. On the left side, we can find information and the basic attributes of the profile, and on the right side, we can find the action management section.

Each of our adventurers has a completely different profile adapted to their playstyle and in-game role.

One of the first things we can find in the Warcrow Adventures Character Tab is the character's name, and right below it, their basic initial equipment -  the equipment the character will begin their adventure with. This equipment will change as you push through the game.

The other piece of text in the Warcrow Adventures Character Tab featured right at the bottom, is the innate skill of the miniature. A skill that can be used from the very instant the character springs into action. In Zsoka's case, her reflexes have everything to do with her role in the game: protecting everyone else. When an enemy attacks a character that's adjacent to her, the character can increase their defense roll.

The symbols and numbers around the illustration are the character's basic stats.

[LOGO INICIATIVA] Initiative value: determines the activation order during combat (5). It's worth noting that the character with the lowest initiative value is the one who will get activated first.

[LOGO PUNTOS DE ENERGÍA] Energy points: establishes how many energy cubes are available to you in order to perform the actions found on the rightmost part of the character tab (3)

[LOGO VIDA] Health value: is the amount of Damage the Character can withstand before falling Unconscious (6)

[LOGO MOVIMIENTO] Movement: is the number of spaces your character can move (3)

Additionally, we can see the defense values, which are not an attribute, but rather a dice roll. In this case, it will indicate the basic die they have for these kinds of rolls.

[LOGO DEFENSA] Defense: resists physical attacks

[LOGO RESISTENCIA MÁGICA] Magic resistance: resists magic attacks

The bottom part of the Warcrow Adventures Character  Tab contains the interaction attributes you require to perform certain in-game actions. As you can see, they have a die value, which means that they are performed through a roll.

Warcrow Adventures' dice have eight sides (D8) and symbols. And they come in different colors. Colors let you know the different levels of the roll from lowest to highest. However, you need to know that the most successful roll is not necessarily the best, it'll depend on the type of character you're playing and their  Switches.

There are two types of dice: offensive dice, which are yellow, orange, and red; and defensive dice, which are black, blue, and green.

[LOGO FORTALEZA] Strength: this attribute indicates your character's physical power.

[LOGO CARISMA] Charisma: your people skills, your ability to communicate with others.

[LOGO AGILIDAD] Agility: your capacity to move swiftly. A very useful skill for dodging, for example.

[LOGO PERCEPCIÓN] Perception: indicates your awareness of the supernatural and the occult around you. One of its possible uses is to discover hidden doors or detect strange presences.

[LOGO INTELIGENCIA] Intelligence: the knowledge you've gathered and your capacity to process information.

[LOGO VOLUNTAD] Willpower: the ability to face challenges for which you're otherwise unprepared. Fear is a factor to take into consideration in this Dungeon Crawler, and willpower is a must.

Action management

One of the features that set Warcrow Adventures apart from the rest is the way actions are performed. To carry out an action, you must declare said action and spend the energy cubes on the right side of the character tab.

Character sheet Warcrow Adventures - Zsoka

Here you may invest as many energy cubes as indicated by your "energy" value [LOGO DE ENERGÍA]. In Zsoka's case, it's 3 cubes.

You'll see that there are some parts that are shaded and appear inside a square, indicating the minimum number of cubes you need to invest to perform the declared action. You need to invest 3 cubes in the first row, 2 cubes in the second and third rows; and 1 cube in the fourth and fifth rows.

The difference between one choice and another lies in the consequences of placing cubes on top of them. Energy cubes are placed one by one from left to right. As you place the cube, you'll have to "pay" the indicated consequence.

For example, if you wish to use the first row, you need to place all your energy cubes. The first one indicates that you gain one taunt [LOGO PROVOCADO], the second - another taunt [LOGO PROVOCADO], and the third one a displacement [LOGO DESPLAZARSE].

Since Zsoka has only 3 energy cubes, her turn would end there. She would've performed the declared action and gained two taunts, and then she'd be displaced.

The choice of how to invest energy cubes is up to you. As long as there are unplaced cubes you may perform actions.

What do the parts without shading mean?

Those are spaces on which you may place energy cubes to activate effects that would otherwise be unavailable. If you want to place energy cubes on these spaces, you must decide as soon as you declare an action.

Let's take Zsoka's fifth row as an example. You declare the "attack" action and then decide to place all three energy cubes in that row. The first energy cube increases your Initiative by 1. With that cube, you already meet the minimum requirement to declare your action, but you've decided to place two more: with the second one you get to [ICONO PROVOCADO] taunt an enemy, and with the third cube you [ICONO ACERCAR] draw an enemy to you. Then, you finally perform the declared action: attack.

Your decisions and the balance between actions and "consequences" will become part of your game strategies. Also, don't forget that each Warcrow Adventures character has its own, completely different tab.
